IMPAX™ PC - High Impact Polycarbonate

Product Description

When fire compliance and supply reliability are both non-negotiable, Zenoloy® 1000 FR delivers on both counts.

Developed for mass transit and safety-critical interior applications, Zenoloy® 1000 FR is a thermoformable PC/ABS compound that meets the most stringent fire behaviour, electrical safety, and chemical resistance requirements in the industry. It is manufactured in Australia by EGR Extrusion — providing specifiers and fabricators with a high-performance local alternative at a time when global raw material supply and oil-derived import costs remain volatile.

From rail carriages to bus interiors to electrical enclosures, Zenoloy® 1000 FR gives your team a material you can build around — and a supply chain you can plan around.

Key Performance Characteristics

  • Thermoformable for complex interior profiles and vacuum-formed components

  • High impact resistance suited to high-traffic public environments

  • Compliant with UL94 V-0, IEC, and ECE R118 fire standards

  • Resistant to chemicals, hydrolysis, and heat

  • Density: 1.18 g/cm³ | Vicat Softening Temperature: 102°C | HDT: 87°C

Why specify Australian made?

With ongoing pressure on global oil supply and extended offshore lead times, locally manufactured sheet stock offers measurable advantages: shorter procurement cycles, lower sovereign supply risk, and direct technical support from the team that makes it.

Fabrication & Handling

Zenoloy® 1000 FR is compatible with standard plastic fabrication processing equipment and requires no specialist tooling or modified handling procedures.

  • Moulding & Forming: Vacuum forming, free blown forming, and line bending are the most widely used processes. The material thermoforms consistently across the available thickness range.

  • Cutting: Saw cutting, routing, and guillotining are all suitable techniques for achieving clean, accurate cuts.

  • Drilling: Standard high-speed steel drill bits are appropriate. Air or water cooling may be introduced where required. Note: cutting oils should be avoided as they may cause surface crazing.

  • Fastening: Exercise caution when using taps or self-tapping screws. As with all FR-grade materials, Zenoloy® 1000 FR is notch sensitive and care should be taken to avoid stress concentrations.

  • Cleaning & Maintenance: Rinse with lukewarm water only — do not use detergents or soap. Clean gently using a soft cloth or sponge to loosen dirt and residue. Do not scrub or use abrasive instruments. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spotting, and avoid cleaning in direct sunlight where possible.
